- 12th FA Womens Football Awards

The Women's football awards are an annual event, which were held this year in the Booby Moore Room at Wembley Stadium. The event was hosted by Jacqui Oatley, BBC Sports commentator on Radio 5 Live.

Approximately 250 sports personalities attended the event, such as Denise Lewis, British Olympic gold medalist and representatives of the England Women’s senior squad.

This was a one day rig with tech run through and a little rehearsing late afternoon/early evening followed by further rehearsals the following morning and the event from lunchtime to around 5pm, de-rig and depart for home.

XL Events supplied the whole package:
Front projection from our Panasonic HD 12K + backup onto a flown 16ft x 9ft screen in a custom made frame.

A White Trevira drape provided a backdrop to the screen and was up-lit from 80 x Colour Block LED Battens adding a splash of colour to the proceedings.

No awards dinner would be complete without a Follow-spot which was supplied and operated by XL Events, however, we can’t claim all the lighting came from XL. Wembley stock a modest amount of equipment. They supplied Martin MAC 250 Krypton Moving lights an Avolites Pear Tiger desk and stage decks and they were keen to have us utilise what we could from their inventory, which of course we happy to oblige.

The presentation graphics were in the form of Apples’ Keynote which we ran on our MAC-Book Pro’s along with embedded VT’s. A DVD player and HD-DVCAM deck were also provided to cover the unexpected. This was all routed through a Barco Folsom Screen-Pro II to the 12K Projectors.

For the presenters convenience we included a 24” Dell LCD Monitor relaying the Live’ projected image. This was placed just off-stage in front of the lectern.
Moving on to the PA. For this we used the L’Acoustics Kiva/Kilo Line Array configured as two ground stacked arrays of six boxes of Kiva and two boxes of Kilo per side. The desk was a Yamaha 16ch LS9.

A Shure Q5 Lapel Radio Mic was used for the Host presenter Jacqui Oatley and a pair of Audio Technica AT935 mics were used for those all important speeches.
