XL Events have been playing their part in Thomson Reuters largest ever marketing campaign for the worldwide launch of its new financial desktop, Thomson Reuters Eikon. Working for Jack Morton Worldwide, XL Events were asked to use our Video expertise for a series of experiential events taking place through 2010 and culminating in recent high profile events in both London and New York.
XL Events and Stage One created two ‘Pods’ units for use as a public ‘teaser’ at Canary Wharf, London and Wall Street, New York. Entitled the ‘Digital Forest’, the units which consisted of 18 two metre high ‘trees’ containing Barco Olite LED blocks, backlit logos and graphics. The Video images portrayed both graphics and video content designed to tease the passer-by with broken pieces of image that coalesced onto one single image when viewed from the correct angle or position.
Following on from the Digital Forest teaser, XL Events and Stage One continued to work together to construct ‘The Cube or LED Room’, which was positioned in the same Canary Wharf location. This consisted of a 10m by 10m, three-metre high steel structure containing three solid sides of Lighthouse R7 LED panels, which ran graphics, text and video that linked to the previous ‘Forest’ element. The Cube also had a large graphic logo and applied text positioned on its roof, to provide interest and intrigue from above. Internally, a clean and contemporary environment, where the public could experience the software via several demo pods, was achieved with a suspended ceiling incorporating integrated lighting, white foamex panels and large graphic prints.
Both elements carried bespoke video content created by Jack Morton Worldwides’ creative department, headed up by Adam Doherty.
Doherty commented’ “What an excellent opportunity to be able to take the clients design elements and transpose them onto a 3D canvas of LED, working alongside a company like XL made my life easier due to their understanding of the whole video process”
